The Pacific East Comprehensive Center partners with the Hawaiʻi Department of Education to strengthen coherence in science education through NGSS alignment, system improvement, and professional learning support.
Overall science proficiency remains below 50 percent and varies widely across schools and complex areas. This variability reflects inconsistent access to high-quality instructional materials, professional learning, and assessment practices that align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Pacific East CC will support HIDOE in conducting a needs assessment and developing a Science Implementation Change Package that defines recommended practices, professional learning structures, and monitoring indicators aligned to NGSS and HIDOE’s Learning Design Framework.
